It's Movie Time!!! ... The Chronicls of Narnia ...

Today, I went for movies with the youth .. this is not my 1st time actually .... its the second time .. the 1st was about a month ago ... but today is the 1st time I take bus with them ...

It was quite fun to ride on the public transport .... super convenient .. the Mutiara gals (hehhehe ... since we live in Mutiara Rini ma ...) met in JingA's house 10am ... we walked about 10mins to some bawah pokok (under the tree) to wait for the bus. The bus came before we reached the "bus stop" ... the driver actually waited for us ... hahaha ... this is JB ... bit kampung style ... it was pretty cool when we got on the bus and sms Jk to tell him that we are "picking" him up ... :0 .... get on the same bus as us ....

We met 3 sweeties from Tun Aminah in CT Sq ... they also took bus ... Ping2 was the unofficial group leader there ... hehehehe ... then there was the 2 pretties from Kulai ... hahaha .... also first time for Sarai take public bus ....

It was very encouraging to see KT rushed all the way ... to met us ... kinda sweet la ... cos he want to keep JK company ... initially he was the only male in our group ... so i thought that was so nice of KT to come along ... thanks ... :0 ....

After the movie, we had lunch ... hehehe ... the guys decided to eat else where .... but came back to look for us after they finish .... I left Ct Sq after movies ... the youth hanged out .... but all of them got home safely ... I asked KT to help "watch out" for the gals ... m sure he will ... haha ... so I can go back in peace ... :0 ..

The movie ... it was so good ... have always LOVE Narnia series ... since young .... good to see it big screen .... comforting to know that "Aslan" is always watching over us and helping us ... his voice is soooo comforting ... gentle and assuring .... loving ... that's our Savior .... His grace is ever there for us .. when we do things that we are not suppose to, He will gently ask us "My child, what have you done?" just as how He asked Lucy .. and guide us back to the right path.

He loves us and is always watching over us ... loving us ... waiting for us to talk with Him .... and in our world ... He is known as someone else ... not Aslan .. we need to know who He is ... do you know and recognize Him in your world?

Family Fun Time 2

M back in Jb yesterday evening .... need sometime to wind down .. thoughts is still very much invaded by family time .... ooo .. yes ...i miss them .... miss family ... miss the kids .. hahaha ... all of them ... be it Win or Lyn/Dan or the 3 ... its like I have not spend enough time with them ... guess this is a start of my new journey .. what I had 3 years in TTC was really a bonus given by God for me to enjoy hols with family .....

Anyway ... coming back to the family fun time story ---- :

The kids simply LOVE Malaysia and Sitiawan .... actually m not too sure about no3 .. cos poor thing .. she suffers headache from jetlag and the heat ... and occasionally tummy pain ....

No 1 wants to buy a motorbike now ... no2 wants a laptop ... and no3 .. simple and sweet ... she just wants a glow in the dark tshirt ... :0 ... no 2 wants to buy a net to catch lizard, tag it and bring it back home as a pet! ...

Both boy had a hair cut from a Chinese barber ... hehehhe .... must cut hair Dad insist cos their hair long ... all end up like Dad's hairstyle ... hahaha .... then they went to Spg 3 .... and had great time chasing after the lizard ... practically turn the whole house upside down!!!

We went to the mangrove swamp area in the evening .... quick2 ... before it gets dark ... that was the best for the boys! They love the colorful crabs, monkeys and the feeling I guess ... off cos were had mosquito attack!!!

Then it was off to TB .... the beach was filled with people! Didnt like it cos it was too crowded for me .... off to Lumut for dinner .... KFC! Hahhaha ... I had to bring them to KFC cos the Yvr KFC is NOT nice .... and all of them enjoyed it! Yes ... Msia KFC manyak sedap! ..:) ... No2 asked for roti (again) for dinner .... he wants roti for bf, lunch and dinner!!! No2 had KFC nasi ayam and she finished the whole plate .... :0 ... good to see her eating ....

The next day ... we went to Segari ... Mom had to show us the way ...she's more familiar than me .... the drive was good ... God gave us very clear nice weather ... clear sky .... breezy .... I simply love the drive ... the weather .. the greens ... the nature .. hope that development can keep their hands off nature ... else we will really loose our beautiful kampung .... look what happen to Lumut, TB, Telok Rubiah ...Sitiawan town .... ooo man .... i hate going back cos it's super hot in Sitiawan ...NO trees ... all just buildings and ugly bird's house ....

The drive was longger than expected cos I was not too sure ... u knw Msia's road signs right ... Mom was like "ooo ... look ... a red signboard is coming up ... see what it says .. where to turn" ... hahha ... it says "AWAS! Pandu Perlahan" (Danger! Drive Slow) ... NChia and I naughty la ... we had a good laugh at Mom... who wont .. she super cute la ..all the way she wants to be in charge ... where to turn etc .... the hands will knock on my door ... to tell me that I need to turn to her side.

Anyway ... we reached the Penyu place at last .... the 1st sight that greeted us was an empty beach!!! Yahoooooo!!!! Just like the old days in Telok Rubiah where we get the entire beach to ourselves ... but this beach .. the waves are very high and strong ... no3 loves this the most. Guess all the 3 enjoyed cat and mouse chase with the waves ... and off cos the turtles ... it was quite interesting cos they kept a few turtles at different stage/age .... under the sand ... hatching stage ... babies ...2 years and then ... 3-4yrs .... to show us the process and different stages.

Then we drove the Damai Laut Swiss Garden. NChia's comment was ... oooo never knew my kampung so scenic and beautiful ... hehehhe ... yes .. I live the scenery .... the drive in ... wow ... but can see that they are clearing the mangrove area :( ... Its really really very beautiful resort ... for retreat or honeymoon ....

We came back K.Koh for lunch .... had lu-mian laksa ... which No2 says its not spicy enough for him .. so we ordered another bowl of laksa ... wah ... wack max the laska ... he loves it :0 ... everyone shared ice-kacang ... their 1st time ... they like it too ... but they are looking forward to Chinatown one in Spore ... the ice that melts in your mouth .... soft and high ...

We left Sitiawan after dinner .... stopped by packed white coffee in Bidor cos I was sleepy (superb kopi ... now I really need to stop every time I passby Bidor) .... the drive was good ... had precious time chatting and sharing with NChia :0

Now ... back to reality .... I need to kautim my Sunday's sermon & it's camp next week!!!!!!

Missing all of you family .... even the ones in Yvr who did not come back -) ... miss u Clareen .... (sweet memories of how we enjoyed ourselves 2years ago) miss all my nieces and nephews ... miss Mom and Dad :0 ...

Looking forward year end before we meet again .... :0 ...

Family Fun Time 1

I kiasu ... saw sm blog about the water fun ... I have to blog on thoughts on my family that is visiting from Vancouver ....

Yes, at last, Nee Chia is back ... the last time she's back was when Mom had the surgery ... that she came back alone ... Uncle J handle the kids all by himself and asked Nee Chia to come home to see Mom ... :0 ... that was so supportive and understanding of Mom ...

It was indeed a very rare moment ... having Nee Chia back .... and the kids .. hahaha .... the last we saw them ... they we kids!! all kecik2 ... its sooo good to see them after sooooo many years! Family are God's precious gift to us .... as siblings .... friends ... people that we grew up with ... people that came along side with us in our journey ... people to laugh and cry with .... people to share our burdens with ... people that give us the emotional ... and my family are God's greatest gift to me ... and they are my greatest supporters .... :0 ... all of them ....

I have not bonded much with Nee Chia's 3 kids .. after all, they were very young when I saw them ... and we have not met past 9 years ... but the kids are fun and sporting ... I drove them from the airport since SM's car need to place all the bags .... asked them what is the thing that they must eat or do to make their Malaysian hols complete .... No 1's reply : everything! Hahaha .... off cos he later narrow down to riding on a motorbike .. :0 ... he simply LOVES Malaysia ... he loves the color ... the scenery .... the feel ... even the color of the dirt ... he loves it!!! No 2 : oooo .... he must see a colorful bird ... m like --huh ... where did he get such idea ... he said his Dad ... ooo my where to see the bird??? ... then, along the highway from the airport .. there was a huge billboard with a HUGE colorful bird ... there ... that's it .. his Malaysian experience is made complete!!! hahaha .... No3 : .... i dont know ... :0 ...

SM cooked dinner .... I already noticed that No2 loves cili ... he wacked the asparagus cooked with big prawns and sambal ....

Today ... confirmed ... he loves CILI!!! We mamak for bf .... we ordered tosai .... roti telor, roti sardin, tosai rawa, mi goreng mamak .... fish keropok ... papadam .... and guess what ... all of them LOVES roti canai ... be it sardin or telor ... but telor was a hit! We packed 2 roti telor back ... and No 2 ... ate them ...

It was quite a nice drive back to Sitiawan ... the weather was good ... not too hot ... PTL! When we reached Lekir area ... the kids got excited ... because they saw chickens running wild in the kampungs .... it seems back in Yvr ... each family can only have a max of 5 chicks ... and they Government set aside C20,000 every year to handle abandon chicks/chickens!!! Wah .... why cant they just kill the chickens to cook chicken curry or ang chew mi suah?

When we reached sis' hse .. they are so excited cos they are not only dogs around .. LOTS of lizards and FROG!! Eeeeeeee ..... kids are excited ... :0 ...

Dinner was at Ah Hing ... as we pulled into Ah Hing .. they were so surprise that the building is actually a restaurant ... hahaha ... No2 asked .... are we having roti telor for dinner ... hahahha .... faint! I say no ... we are having a Chinese dinner ... his reply .... aaawww ... but I want a Malaysian dinner not Chinese food! hahahha ... tats so true .. after all, he eats Chinese food all the time cooked by his Mom ...

Anyway .. the wedding dinner ... it was a huge gathering of the Yu clan ... near and far came ... typical Sitiawan dinner ... the KaraOK .... sound system .... blasting!!! Our ears needed a break and rest after the dinner! To Mom ... the sound level was just right!!! hahhaha :0 ...

The kids was tired but very well behaved ... they followed us around as we say Hi to relatives ... they waved at the relatives as gesture of Hello ... after all, its no point talking cos it was so noisy!

By the kids came back to sister's hse ... they are tired ... they all zzz in Hea's room .... while I parked myself in the room with the old grandmother's bed ... perhaps this bed is easily 70yrs old... have to take pix of it later ...

Now ... I need to return the mouse to Vincent .... I forgot to bring mine with me ...

Photos ... later .. another time ....

Tats all for now ....

... It's the timeof the year ... carols are ringing ...

Yes .. Nov is ending and the last month of the year is starting .... and yes ... its the time of the year that I blast my Christmas songs ..... both in my car as well as in my room .... this year, I have to admit that I am slow ... I used to start my Christmas songs -- officially 1 Nov .... where did I learn all this ... I remember how Fred used to listen to Christmas songs ... as early as Oct!!! Guess, its something that I caught living with them! .. :0..

So,what was Christmas like ... those days?

Christmas has always been FUN time back in Sitiawan .... I recall carolers coming to our house in Sitiawan Estate past midnite or wee hours of the morning ... cos our house is so tercampak 1 corner .. they always make it their last stop .... and in those days ... we will have Mom's church coming ... earlier days .. we will have even the New Road Chinese church (Mom attended their church plant in Spg Dua) and Paul Ling's church. So, carolers will greet us in our pajamas and sleepy eyes .... we dont lock our main door but just shut it ..leave the porch & living hall lights on. I remember one year ... I did not wake up till the carolers started singing .... so, our house was invaded by them because they will open the door of our house and gather in the hall to sing. The will dress in white .. and some groups will wear a hear gear (hollow made of shining silver ... eeerr that thing la ... made into a hollow) ... so, they are angels bringing the Good News to our homes.

There was one year I spent Christmas in sister's house .. I must have been 8 or 9 years old then ... Christmas is gala time for their house ... with Christmas tree and lots of food prepared to serve the carolers. There were many carolers from different church that came ... I can recall clearly Pioneer Church ... wah .. their group ... no joke ... the Santa Claus is really dressed up and carries a bag with goodies to give away to kids in the home ...

As I grew older, I was introduced to caroling ... as early as 12 or 13 ... i was still in MIF ... Mrs Tay will bring us around in her car ... and in Mrs Koh's car ... that was the time I started to learn and memorize all the carols ....

In MYF days ... caroling is FUn FUN FUN !!!!! Once school hols start, we will start our caroling practice ... everyday ... Mon - Fri ... we will learn and memorize the songs and learn new songs ... we will also learn up our liners that we need to recite ... you see ... caroling in Sitiawan Wesley MYF is just not singing songs ... but we always have a narration to go along with it .... like a story ... songs ... Scripture reciting and the prayer .. we will gather in House of Grace as early as 5pm ... and we will start our caroling as early as 6 or 630pm ... nearby houses (Kpg Koh area) we will cycle or go on motorbikes ... but places that is far ... we will then take the bus .. we will go as far as Ayer Tawar & Lumut for caroling ..... oooo ... those days was really FUN! The fellowship among the MYFers during those days - GREAT! And m I right to say that sometimes relationships blossom during those days ...

By the time caroling reached Nee's era ... the tradition is still as strong as ever .. she joined the Chinese church caroling ... and this is where she will come back with LOADS of goodies from the houses she visited ... from Lux or May soap (dozens of it) .. towels .... to toothpaste ... and there was even one year ... Kpg Koh Cili Sos ... hahaha ...

As time move on .... I moved out from caroling .... somehow it just died ... but it came back when I came to JB ... 2 things I enjoyed ... Christmas in Spore ... for 2-3 years, I manage to catch the Acapella carolers in the shopping mall ... one year was in City Hall when I was shopping with LN & Cynthia ... they are great! Later in CCC I remember carolers went to City Square, Pelangi Mall and once the last year, I joined the Young Adult's carolers in Danga Bay ... and I found out .. the carols that I memorized during MYF days ... I can still remember the lyrics ..

This year ... there is no caroling for me .... just a youth camp is waiting for me just before Christmas ... from now till 25th Dec .... Christmas songs will be blasting from my pc & car ... and i simply LOVE Cliff Richard's Christmas songs ...

Kari Ikan Masak Lemak (Fat Fish Curry?? hahahha)

I learned this new recipe from Lilian (she's a superb cook!!!) yesterday ... I thought I better pen it down before I forget the recipe ....

Ingredients :

A) To pound or blend them together into a paste
Small onions (10)
Garlic (whole garlic)
Ginger (1.5")
Kunyit (1") - yellow ginger (ahhh?? )
Lengkuas (slightly less than 1")
Dry chilies (20-25)
Serai (lemon grass) - 2-3

B) Baba's Fish Curry Powder - 2.5 tablespoon (add water and make it into paste)

C) Coconut milk (100-150g or 1 coconut)

D) Curry leaf

E) Vegie : 4 big tomatoes (choose yellow ones ... not so ripe so that it brings a little sourish taste to the curry), ladies finger (and I think we can add tau-po pok)

F) Fish (ikan kembong --small ones taste sweeter .. think we can also use tenggiri or other fish)

Steps :
a) Heat up the oi in wok
b) Add (A) in and stir fry it till fragrant .... till the oil surface
c) Add curry leaves in to fry & (B) .... Baba's curry powder
d) Add water .....
e) After bringing it to boil .... add tomatoes ... and ladies finger ...
f) Add salt to taste ...
g) Add the fish
h) Add the coconut milk ....
i) Gently stir it ... try to bring the vegie to the top and leave the fish at the bottom to cook it. Be gentle so that we don't crush the fish meat ....
j) Final adjustment to the taste before dishing it out to serve once the fish is cooked

1st Class Reunion ..... 17 Nov 2010

We had our 1st class reunion yesterday at Angie's place .... thanks to Sam & Pris who graciously organize it .... Angie's condo .... wow .. clocks all over ... from all over the world ... from all spectrum of time line .... no wonder she's never late for class!

It was a time of GREAT fun ... laughing .... its really good to be back in "class group" again ... with all the uncle's nonsense ... jokes .... stories ... fellowship .... but most of all ... it was good to gather again just to share how have our journey been .... as well as our prayer request .... Sam led us to a meaningful time of worship .... (yo .... u got to get back leading worship la ... anointing man!) .. and just to pray for one another ....

Who came : Uncle Steven (hahahha .... with him around .... u're never short of stories .... and he shared on how he met my cousin Jonathan ... hahahha ... cool!) ... Uncle Pat, Lian Kuan (with his 2 kids .... though I really thought I saw little Tu jumping jumping around .... and with his blue Crocs slippers), Chris (with his wife and gal ... she has really grown so tall - pretty --- huge eyes!!) ... Sam, Lily (eerrr ... think its her 1st time joining the English class group ... hahaha ... y she's in the group ... "i dono" ...), Pris & Vic (the love birds ... ;-) .. jia you!!!) ... Jelin & Diana ... Samadi & hub ... oooo .... Lawrence ... Peter (who rushed in from JB [???]), Pei Yi and off course ... me me me ... ooo yea .. not forgetting our host whole steamed CRABS for us!!!!

Yup ... we had LOTS of food .. the star of the night was off course the crabs ... Lian's cheese cake .. and gor-ki ... really there were gor-ki-ies .... :0 .... did some one almost drop one??? hehhee ..

The take of the night :

It's really the grace of God that He had saw us through past 4-5.5 months of ministry. Many of us are very much struggling to adjust, settling down in the new life routine, new working environment.... new people .... balancing the ministry demands and we are all still on the journey .... its only by God's grace that we survived ...

Yes .... life and ministry is tough ... and we are glad that God gave us one another .... as support group .... to know that we are not the only ones who are struggling with the struggle of expectations of church members .... fear of offending people ... fear of taking risk for the Lord ... juggling demands of ministry verses our personal intimate relationship with God .... we are NOT alone ... we have one another ... and we have God ... the One who called us ... to be set apart to serve Him .... for extension of His Kingdom .....

From the sharing .. we gain strength that the God who called us will be faithful to us .. and to our calling .... 2 of personally shared that just 2 weeks ago ... they thought of giving up but it was God who reaffirmed their call and strengthen them ...

We also saw God's long lasting love and patience at work in our lives ... He is ever patient to wait for us to response to His work in our lives .... we saw a "repent" Lawrence ----- 1st time he handed in all his papers days before the deadline!!! And we also saw how God brought some of us through the process which we went through during our time in TTC ... but if we did not respond to His molding ... we will still be in the same process ... net2 .. there is NO moving on until we pass the "test" or "work" that God wants to do in our lives

Uncle Steven ... Pat .. Lawrence will be graduating coming May ... like how God led us ... and opened the door for us ... all of us .... He will open the door when we are ready and at the right time .... so ... we will continue to uphold our brothers and sister (Samadi) in prayer as they wait for God's door to be open .... He will surely lead us all the way!!!

So .. let's not stop meeting together like this and let's continue to pray that :

".... God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light ..." (Col 1: 9b-12)

Till the next time ..... remember my dear brothers & sisters .....

"The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it ..." (1 Thes 5:24)

p/s : yes .... why no pix???? .... cos the one who brought camera got super excited when see the food .... forgot to take pix!!!see la!!!! guess who???

Happy Depavali ..... Memories from Sitiawan Estate

I currently live next to an Indian family house whom I saw busy preparing for Depavali - painting the house .... cleaning the garden ... and late last nite the lady was washing porch .... and then .... firecrackers ... loud and lot .... this brings back memories of growing up in a multi-racial community - which becomes even more interesting during festive times ......

I remember getting excited over Depavali more than CNY as a child ... why .. because of the excitement of my neighbors ... Depavali is a bigger thing for us living next to an Indian community than Chinese New Year .... :0

Baby's sister and Prema's mother will be busy making the Depalavi cookies and muruku a month before Depavali -- and like many other households in the estate I grew up, they will paint their house or even buy new furniture for their homes... they will paint/draw or use colored/dyed rice their front floor with images of flowers etc. Surround their house / fence .... they will place little lights that is lighted over kerosene oil or place candles .. Depavali is a celebration of lights .. so on Depavali eve, they will light up these lights .... for perhaps a week or so ....

My Indians little friends will be thrilled because its the time of the year where they will new clothes ... this is the only time that many of them will get new set of clothes ... but there are some unfortunate ones that will not get them .....

On Depavali evening ... the air is thicken with the festive mood .... the final touches in their homes, final shopping .... by 6-7pm .... our neighbors (my friends -- all of them are kids like me) will be coming to our house ... with a round tray in their hands ... they will yell my name on top of their voices at our gate ... cos the distance from our gate to our house is very far away ....

Yes, its tradition that our neighbors will come to our home bringing their goodies (kuih raya) on their trays ... and we in return will put a palm full of sugar on their tray as a gesture of appreciation. On the right season, we may even give them rambutans or cempedak from our orchard .... so, what do they give us -- LOTS of yummies .... different types of muruku ... round2 dono what small balls (2-3 types of flavor or types of flour) ... and ah-ci-muruku (beehive) ...

In the morning, we will start our home visitation as early as 9am ... we will go from house to house to "bai-nian" ... hahhaha ... this is where we will enjoy our dhall curry .. mutton, chicken curry with tosai or idlis served on banana leave ... and we eat with our fingers .... eeemmm .... interesting .... yummy ....

Well, Happy Depavali to all my old friends back in Sitiawan Estate .. wonder if they still live there ... wonder if they are still around ....

p/s : Mom called me ... and wish me "sin-nian quay-lerk, sin-nian-huak-chai" (translation : happy new year .... new year prosper) ... pengsan!!! Yeah .... its Depavali .... Indian New Year!

We God Ran : Let The Word Minister to you ....

Wow ... the power of this song ...... listen to it ( ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBzcOGydUaA&p=838B2CBEB8FB2DA1&playnext=1&index=32) and let the words speak to you ....

When God Ran

Almighty God, the great I am
Immovable
rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord
Victorious warrior, commanding King of Kings
Mighty
conqueror, and the only time
the only time I ever saw Him run

CHORUS:
Was when He ran to me, He took me in His arms

Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
“Son do you know I still love you?”
He caught me by surprise when God ran

The day I left home I knew I’d broken His heart
And I wondered then if things could ever be the same

Then one night I remembered His love for me
And down that dusty road ahead I could see

It was the only time – it was the only time I ever saw Him run

And then He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
“Son do you know I still love you?”
He caught me by surprise as He brought me to my knees
When God ran – I saw Him run to me

BRIDGE:
I was so ashamed, all alone and so far away

But now I know He’s been waiting for this day

I saw Him run to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice I felt His love for me again

He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said, “Son”, He called me Son
He said, “Son do you know I still love you?”
He ran to me and then I ran to Him
When God ran

.... Stuck ..... Still water is Stale water

I met them 7-8yrs ago .... they we brought to my house by a friend .... at that time her daughter was just 3-4yrs old .. very cute and quiet girl. I remember she was very hungry ... I packed food for them .. the daughter finished all the food including fried chicken .... at that time she was living in the single mom's house provided by the government because she had problems with her husband .. or her husband never came back .... she claimed she believed in God and wanted to follow Him .. she claimed she wanted to give her life to Him ... and to serve Him ...

Today ... after 7-8yrs .... she maybe have gone back to her husband and living with him right now ... at least her daughter has a father .... the man still does not come back every night because she is the 3rd or 4th wife ... she is still in the same shoes ... claiming the same proclamations she declared years ago.... one can see that she is still in the same situation ... physically ... she claims that she still does not have money .. can't support herself ... looking for someone to support (perhaps this is why she went back to her husband -- an old man, completely different race, religion) ... she is debt deep ... her house was auctioned by the bank ... and she is looking for another house .... spiritually ... she's still as stuck as how she was 7-8yrs ago ...

We are used to the saying still waters run deep ... true .... but there is another phase that impacted me shared by Paul David : "Still water is stale water". In still water .... mosquitoes breed .... still water may turn to stale water ....

Like wise in our lives .... are we allowing rivers of living waters to flow in us and through us to others or the waters in our lives have been so still that there is a thick layer of particles that we allow it to come into our lives over time to sick deep at the bottom? If these particles are not stirred to surface so that we know what it is in order for us to remove it one by one .. then the water that is in us will be stale water pretty soon ....

If you feel that there you are stuck in a situation or stuck in your life --- come to God and ask Him to stir the waters in you so that you know what are the things that is causing the blockage .... and then .... deal with it .... work at it to get it removed .... removing it = letting it go or be how it was intended to be in the first place ... once the blockage is removed ... you are able to move on ... rivers of living waters will flow out from you again .... the fountain of live will be found in you.

Jesus said,

"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:38

... A Tribute to Friends from Old Days ...

As I look back, God has blessed me with good friends at every stage of my journey .... right from kecik2 time, I've got lots of friends and from the pool of friends, good friends .... spiritual friends .... "worldly" friends .... friends for every kind of need and situation I have .. my Father indeed knows how to take care of His daughter ....

The issue of friendship and I have come very far .... I remember when I was in standard 5 or 6 ... I had a gang that I click with -- we were almost like the team of Famous 5 : Regina Kok (father is a major in the TLDM, she was transfer to KL in form 1), Su Ee, Shirley, Jeje and I. Some how this group sort of like disperse when Regina went to KL. O yea .. there was Evelyn Lian as well ... but she was not that close to us as she lives super far ... her Dad is a manager in one of the estates / plantations before Pantai Remis I think ... cant remember where it is ... but it was far. Went to her house once .... her house has a swimming pool.

Then in form 1 I hanged out with Asma for awhile... she lives in Lekir .... but at the same time, my friendship with Sue Mei begin to develop and takes a spin when we started going MIF together. Suzie came into the picture as well here. We also had Mrs Nagarajah's Maths tuition in command as well. With more common grounds, our friendship begin to grow --- I recall many overnights in Sue Mei's house .... more of the one in Taman Singa and not the one opposite Chung Chen. Sue Mei and I practically went every where together .... then, I met Foong Lun ... in my 1st MYF camp, Convent Cameron Highlands - she prayed for me to receive the gift of tongues and I did!!! way back in my mid teens ... at that time, I really dono what it was ... hahha ...

Then in form 6, I met new friends who became the few that God blessed me with -- who held me in their prayers .... who cried when I cried ... laughed when I laughed ..... Lang Nguk .. who taught me to look at things on the brighter funny side and her famous statement that made a deep impact in my life - friends are like flowers ... it needs lots of sacrifice, nourishment ... lots of sunshine & TLC ... and Choo Leng .. the fusion of cina moi & a white on the outside but yellow in the inside ... but this 2 precious friends and I have journeyed far and wide together ...

In varsity days ... I was close to 2 coursemates - Jane Lee and .. Ai Ling (think that's her name) .. wah ... see if I dont pen down .. I will forget all their names ... but after grad... I lost contact with them. Then off course there was Wui2 ... my twin sister in campus ... both of us looks alike with the same hairstyle .. same style of dressing .... :0 still the same ... thank God that when we met up once a while ... we are still able to share and connect like old days ...

Off course, in varsity ... my friendship with Wendy became closer though I have known her since MYF days. We became closer as we lived together in Charis House in Minden Heights. God send her as a friend who stood by me when I was falling -- she came all the way from Bkt Jalil to Sri Damansara just to hang out with me ... pray for me and brought me to church -- DUMC .. and later the Family Camp in PD ... :0 ... thanks Wendy ....

When I started working ... friends seem to have shrunk .... we do not have time to cultivate friendship ... except for working colleagues .... LN and I lived together for 3 years in Section 10 .. fun times ... right opposite of CK & CY. During this time, I got reconnected with Susie and Jeye .. Jeye was doing law in MU and live in Section 5 -- so ... dinner time ... we always hang out ..

As time move on ... friends seems to set smaller but God reserved some close ones that stick with me through thick and thin ....

Eventually when I left work and started to work in church -- I hanged out with another 5 people ... Felix, Shally, Barry, Dorithy & Doreen ... I seem to connect and click with Shally the most ... perhaps its our background and life experiences .... this Dot .... quite cute la ... she will go the extra mile if u need help .. rber the 1st time she came and visit me in TTC ... betul2 like aunty ... bring Milo (I dont drink Milo but cos of her I occasionally drink it now!!!), instant noodles ... to visit the inmate in TTC "house arrest" .. then .. there was once .. she cooked soup ... brought them all the way from JB .. through the immigrations .... hop off the bus gave it to me .. and hopped on the bus again to go to TCA .. what a friend .. :0 ... God's blessing ....

In TTC, the Lord brought Pris and Li as my hang out buddies and Ah Yi as my prayer partner ... :0 ... and the rest of the class ... whom we fought so much .... cried so much .. laughed so much ... and prayed together .. these are a special group of friends who will be my strength, comfort and counsel as I journey on serving HIm ....

Friends come and go ... some stay ... some go ... one thing for sure ... God will always bring us friends because no man can live as an island ... all of us needs companionship & emotional support!

Love - Chris Tomlin Watoto Children's Choir

By now you will notice that I love this handsome dirty looking guy's songs .... LOL ..... dont u agree with me that he's kinda cute looking .... God used this man to bring to us many powerful songs .....

Just go listen and enjoy this song ... LOVE the African kids choir and rhythm - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47FWQ5xxS8k

There is love, there is love
There is love, there is love

When our hope is hard to find

And our faith is in decline

We need a cause to stand behind - love

We all want the way it feels
Time it comes and time it steals

What remains, what is real - love
[Chorus:] There is love
There is forgiveness

There is love in times of need

When life is cold there is a promise
You will never go without...
There is love

It heals the sick

Comforts the weak
Breaks the proud

Raises the meek

In this life no guarantees...

Love is the answer
Love will find a way
When we love one another
It's a brighter day

O-kwa-ga-la-kwe,

Ku-singa-byoo-na,
Bwe-twa-ga-la-na-o-lu-na-ku-lu-suu-fu

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love"
(1 Cor 13:13)

The Koci Story

I discovered kuih koci that is super nice in JB .. (actually not I discover la ... Lan Nguk introduce it to me.... made by her primary school classmate) Its the koci that will melt in your mouth as you take a bite .... eeemmm ...yummy ... the fragrant of the gula melaka .... wahh .... super nice .... but super expensive ..... rm1.20 for a small one. During buka raya, I can buy 3 kuih for rm1 ... hahaha ... its very nice .... but a little expensive ....

The koci can be found in Bkt Indah .... Nyonya Joy Restaurant ... this restaurant serves nyonya food but ... its not cook by nyonya ... but two sisters who is from Spg 5 ... the elder sis (married a Baba learned cooking from an old Nyonya from Malacca) manages the kitchen ... and the younger sister (LN's classmate) manages the kuih2 .... everything is handmade .... the younger sister claims that the recipe is 100years old ... she learned from an old old nyonya who learned it from her mom ... mom's mom and the list goes on ....

I brought Pris, a full flash nyonya .. she said that the koci is nice --- so is the cendol .. and kuih ketayap ... (pulut rice with prawn shrimp sambal)

Loving the koci reminds of how we love the kuih koci sold by a man who comes round our house (Sitiawan Estate) at about 1130am. The man paddles his bicycle with a wooden box at the back and this is where he places his kuih. As he paddles, he shouts "Kuih Koci ah" .... and we will run out of our house ... calling "koci -- koci" ... if he does not hear us ... we will shout "oooii .... ooii" LOL .... those were the good old days where we have paddlers going from house to house to sell their goods .... Actually there were 2 men who will come around the same time ... both are brothers ... and they collect the kuih from our neighbor to sell.

The man sells very nice kuih koci as well ...from our house, the kuih is fresh from the oven because the man collects the kuih from our neighbor ... who happens to be Ong Siew Chu's aunty. Siew Chu's aunty also makes very very nice ang-ku kuih as well ... and I do recall fullmoon celebration of Nee and maybe even Wen .... we ordered direct from her .... in those days ... one kuih koci will cost rm0.35 I think ... and for that, we already say its expensive .... :0 ....

In fact, I dont only remember goods sold like this ... but also services ..... my 3rd aunty goes round on his motorbike to perm and cut hair! Staying in an Indian community ... brings along the experience of fortune seller who comes all the way from India .... on foot he will go from house to house to sell his service -- telling fortunes ... and he uses cards and with the help of two little birds which he carries them in a cage.

Well, I thank God for giving nice koci to enjoy ... as well as sweet memories that comes along with it .... :0 ... made a journey back to the my childhood days ...

Great is the Lord ...and Worthy of Praise

This song was introduced to me back in MYF days and it was one of my favorite songs ... and even back in varsity days ... it was still my top 10 favorite song .... then ... I almost forgot that this song exist until I went to TTC ... in the Yellow Song book we use for Cluster Vesper, the song is in it ... and almost every time I lead Vesper, I'll sing this song ... hehehhe .. off cos .. it's still my favorite song ma .. and past two weeks the Lord gave me this song again when Tsuey lead worship -- we sang in Mandarin ... but for me to express myself better and let the song so fill me ... you can hear my loud voice singing it in English in the mist of the Chinese voices ... tonight, the song came so powerfully again .... the lyrics of the song never fail to "water" my eyes ... especially when singing "And Lord I want to thank You for the works You've have done in my life ... and Lord I trust in Your unfailing love .... " the Lord indeed had done a lot in my life ... and is continuing to work mighty in my life ... until the day I see Him face to face ... PTL!

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise

The city of our God the holy place

The joy of the whole earth

Great is the Lord in whom we have the victory

He aids us against our enemy

We bow down on our knees

And Lord, we want to lift Your name on high

And Lord, we want to thank You

For the works You’ve done in our lives

And Lord, we want to trust in Your unfailing love

For You alone are God eternal

Throughout earth and heaven above

How do we play Church?

"Eng Ing, m disappointed with your church" This was the words of a friend when I showed her where my church is .... my church is located in the back lane shop lot, a corner lot but its right in front of a garbage area. The sight of a simple church located at the back streets of Taman Universiti was not something she expected from a church which she has heard so much of ... lead by a pastor whom she has heard so much of too .... There was no proper signage for the church .... no nice sigh board or attractive colors slapped on the walls of the building ... the sight and smell from the two huge garbage bins was the last straw I guess ....

"How old is your church? How many people in your church? If church so many years and no growth, it is not healthy ..... something is not right somewhere ..... Normally churches will do rallies, crusades ....evangelistic meetings etc ...." The comments continued to pour in like a heavy downpour of rain ...non stop...

"You guys cannot just pray and except God to do things and not do anything ...."

I have told her before and was telling her again that my church is not an activity orientated church .... we do not have activities except for church prayer meetings, every Mon, Wed and Fri nights. We have 2 services .... the first service is more for the youth ... and during the second service, the youth goes up to CG meeting style. Then there is Sunday school ... NOT some gala huge children's church. We still use the normal plastic chairs with a maroon hood that can be stacked up after use.

My poor friend was so shocked I guess at the sight of the church building .... I have told her time and again .... she will be the most outstanding dressed lady if she comes to my church ... my pastor will normally just wear her favorite polo tshirt on normal days and a blouse or the Rev. collar blouse ..... no make up ....

When I first stepped into our church -- it really reminds me of the type of church that Paul Ling's old church (before his current building) or a church that we can find in our mission trips --(remembering those in my mission trip in Ipoh during varsity days or Chamek ... after STPM). The thing that struck me was the "river of life" that was flowing in this church .. I recall telling myself that this is the place where I can find the rivers of living water flowing and I can come and drink from it ... that was like ..... 3.5years ago? They worshiped God with their Mandarin songs .... at that point ... I hardly know any song .... but I know my tears was running down my cheeks as I stood in the service -- how do you explain this .... I don't even know the meaning of the words of the song ... This my friends .... was the Holy Spirit touching me ....ministering to me. What is worship? Our hearts towards God or .....

Do they have back up singers? Do they have a band? No ... it was just the worship leader .... and someone standing beside her as back up ... though there was guitar .... drum set .... but no one was playing .... the only music was coming from a piano .... God was there .... He still came and met us in worship!

We visited a new believer last Tuesday and this is an incident he shared with us .... His friend, ex Buddhist was a new believer and was asked to share the Gospel and ask people to come to church --- those around him ... this was the friend's reaction --- "huh? Why should we ask (pull ... translate that to Mandarin -- that was the word used) people come church .... the Buddhist or Muslims never ask people go to their temples or mosque .... people just go. Is church doing this because they do not have business or scared that they do not have business?" ... we laughed ... yes ... its a joke ... but think about it -- evenpre-believers and new believers have expectations on the church ...

Expectations .... expectations ... expectations of how a church should be (the physical) how the program should be ... how the pastor and staff should dress ... how we should talk ... behave .... how we should play church ... it is interesting to note that my friend who has been a Christian past 20years, attended a few churches and now looking for church to change ... seems to know better how we should run the church (like an organization) than my pastor ... Lord have mercy .... think that we should cease to play god or help God to be god ... but to repent ... and truly seek God what and how He wants us to do .... His way .... let His kingdom come on earth ... His way ... His Kingdom .... not man's kingdom .... He is God .. we are only mere man .... give back to God His rightful seat in our lives and heart ... and He will show us how to run our lives and His church ...

We need to be mindful of expectations .... it is expectations in our relationship that normally rock the relationship .... it is expectations of ourselves ... how our life should be ... our lifestyle .. what type of job we should have ... how our children should be .... ect ... that not only wrack but steal the very love, peace and joy out of our lives .... expectations ... is another blog by itself ... perhaps some day will blog on it ....

Lord have mercy ... and help us ... to live simply but fully for Him!

I am proud that I belong to this Body of Christ .... where the River of Living waters flow ... where fresh Manna is being served ..... where my shepherd's concern is the soul of her sheep ... the growth in depth & vertical of her sheep and not just the horizontal growth .... she would rather have small number but transformed souls .... hungry for more of God rather than numbers ... her focus is the internal ....not the external.... and I echo her vision ... because I am tired of playing church with God .. and tired of living out the expectations of people .... I want to live out the expectations of my Father and my Boss .... :0 ... Amen!

.. Famous Amos Cookies and I ...

Every time I look at the my blog's new skin ... it reminds me of my favorite cookie .... Amos Famous Cookies ... yes ... I know ... its called Famous Amos and not the other way round ... but from the first time till now .. I have always known it as Amos Famous .... somehow I always have a soft spot for Amos ... be it the cookie .... or the book in the Bible ... have not found a man called Amos though ... :0 ...

Anyway ... I was first introduced to Amos way back in 1980s ... I was living my Cousin Eng Hor's house in Taman Hijau. At that time, she was working and living in KL .. so every time when she comes back, she will buy 300 or 500g of the cookies. This started a life long romance with Amos Famous. I love the precious cookies so much that I had to even finish the crumbs!!! They just melt in your mouth! At that time, Eng Hor already told me briefly about the history of Amos ... most importantly , its freshly hand made cookies ....

My favorite type is the macadamia nuts! Yummy!!!

Then when I started my second job ... it was in Sg Wang Plaza ...guess what's in the 2nd floor of SWP -- yes ... its Amos!!!! You can smell it from miles!!!! So, every day I smell Amos ... hehhehe .... I believe that it produces the best Amos ... cos the turn over is very high for this outlet ... after leaving SWP, there was a season I went crazy after Amos (actually I will buy 300- 500g of it and claim it under dinner bill from the company -imagine how many kilos of Amos I accumulated in 1 week's outstation trip in KL.. hehehe) ... that I will go either Section 14 Asia Jaya (now the building is demolished) .. or Subang Parade or Mid Valley's outlet. But I find that the Subang Parade's outlet not so nice .. no wonder my size so cute now .....

Coming to JB .. there is no Amos outlets ... imagine that .. but when it first open in Senai Airport ... I actually drove all the way just to buy myself a packet .... in the the inflated airport rate!!!

O yes .. I will also make Shally buy them every time she comes back to JB from KL .... and off course ... there was once she bought and did not manage to see me ... guess who finish ALL my cookies ....its non other than Famous Ms Dorithy Tay!!!

When m Spore ..... there is Amos outlets --- the one that always entice me is in John Little of Orchard.... but bit ex la ... so my dear nieces (especially Nee) and SM will buy them for me ... every time I go back Sban!

Yes, Amos and I have come a long way ..... in fact, some years back when I was still in KL, Susie gave me the recipe .... since I cant bake ... I pass it to SM ... she bakes them for me!!! Off cos, not only for me la ... all the kids also chiang eat them!!!!

Below is a brief history of my favorite cookie which I took from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famous_Amos

Wally Amos, an Air Force veteran who worked as a talent agent with the William Morris Agency, would send home-baked chocolate chip cookies to celebrities to entice them to meet with him and maybe sign a deal to be represented by the William Morris company. Amos grew up in the State capitol of Florida, born in Smokey Harlem of Tallahassee, FL and graduated from Lincoln High School in the 1940s.

On March 10, 1975, Amos took the advice of some friends and opened a cookie store in Los Angeles, California, naming it "Famous Amos". In the first year he sold $300,000 worth of cookies, followed by more than $1,000,000 in sales in the store's second year of operation.

The store proved so popular that the "Famous Amos" brand eventually branched out to sell cookies in supermarkets, a move that would later be emulated by other specialty stores like as Baskin Robbins, T.G.I. Fridays, and Starbucks.

The Famous Amos brand has gone through a number of owners since inception. Between 1985 and 1989, the Famous Amos company went through four different owners. In 1992 the President Baking Company purchased the brand from The Shansby Group. Then, in 1998 Keebler foods purchased the President Baking Company. It was then owned by Keebler Foods until the Kellogg Company purchased Keebler in 2001. The brand is now a part of Kellogg's Company.

Wally Amos has created another brand of cookie called "Chip and Cookie", named after two characters he created in the 1980s. The Chip and Cookie brand is owned by Wally himself, and has a slightly different recipe than that of the Kellogg's variation.

p/s : didn't know till now that Chip & Cookie is made by Amos ... no wonder I LOVE it too ..... especially the soft cookies .... found them in Cold Storage next to TTC .... ex ... like Sin5.95 for a small packet of it ....

... the agony of wAiTiNg ...

Think that one of the most challenging thing in life is to wait .... the Bible says that those who wait upon the Lord will gain new strength .... why do we need strength when we wait ... wait on the Lord? .... waiting is the worst thing that one can be asked to do ... it is tiring ... hence, the Lord knows that those who are waiting on Him for answer .... breakthru .....needs strength ... and strength renewed all the time ... else our spirit will be weary ... and we will loose hope ...

There are many waiting people around me ... including myself ... some are waiting for a job, ministry doors to be open ... baby .... husband/wife .... breakthrough .... new job .... new husband .... new wife .... kids to grow up ...spouse to change .... some ... sadly ... is just waiting for life to pass by ...

I have been waiting for a house of my own ...past 3 months .. and m still awaiting .... m saying that my house is stuck some where ... that is why have not reach me yet .... but I will continue to wait on my Father who is my Provider ... a suitable house for mom and I ... with furniture -- and a new bed with good mattress :)

In the mist of waiting ... it is very easy for our steps to slip ... slip off God's path for us ... then example of how Saul was instructed to wait for seven days for Samuel to come and offer sacrifice to God (1 Sam 13). Saul did waited for seven days .... but on the 7th day ... mid day ... he sacrificed to God instead of waiting through .....and just after he offered the sacrifice .... Samuel came .... Saul eventually lost the throne .... not because he did not waited for Samuel but because he had a unrepented heart ... he basically did not come out clean when confronted by Samuel.

We also see others who was asked to wait by God -- Noah ... in the boat ... he was asked to wait until the land is dry after the non stop rain of 40 days and 40nights .... Joshua was asked to wait as he led the Israelites to march round the walls of Jericho for 7 days ..... imagine what will happen if Noah or Joshua did not wait ....

Was it easy for Noah or Joshua to wait? Off course not.Waiting not only involves patience but also the testing of our faith --- our faith can be tested and shaken during waiting period .... do we really believe that God will come through for us at the end of our waiting season?

I think that waiting season is important and good season for our soul .... it is a time to stop, pause and take stack of our life and relationship with God ... it is a time for us to see God's hands at work ... (remember the song God will make a way by Don Moen --- God works in ways that we cannot see) It is in the waiting period that God's hands is at work in our lives and that situation. Waiting season can be a season of purification --- a season to remove that is not from God in our lives --- like our power to make things happen our way .... waiting season is a season of character moulding and building -- David had to wait 20years .... before he was officially installed as king.

All the examples of waiting in the Bible shows us that God did come through at the end ....

Waiting season will either draw us closer to God or further away from Him ... which will you choose my friend -- closer or further away from you Father who loves you ... and will definitely give you good things in life ... God may be give you this waiting season because He misses having you sitting in His presence ..... your Father is calling you to sit with Him ...

Waiting is also a very humbling process - a humbling process because you know that you are no longer in control / in charge of the situation or your life anymore .... you cannot do anything anything else except to wait on God ... you have no choice but to surrender and submit yourself to His sovereign will and trust that He will sort things out for you in His time. It's humbling not to play god over our lives or the lives of people around us anymore ... and allow God to be God in our lives and the lives of those around us ...

So to all those waiting ..... including myself ....

"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD."
(Ps 27:14)

Your God will come through for you ..... just watch and see ... the miracle will be delivered to your door steps when you wait patiently for Him .....

.... Shopping The Korean Way ....

We never really had time to shop when we were in Seoul .... our schedule was jammed packed with allocation for prayer .... meals ..... travel time.... travel takes quite a bit cos for us to travel out into the city and Sam-Gak San .... two ways ... we need at least 3hrs ... and not to mention ... Seoul can be quite jam .... especially peak hour!!! Highways and byways .... all packed with vehicles!! Reminds me of KL .... especially Federal Highway or Golden Triangle peak hours.

So, did we shop in Korea? What we heard from Pastor Joyce and Bro Dae Koreans shop online a lot ... they will just call their neighborhood supermarket and order all that they need for a meal and the things are delivered within 1hr or so ... so by the time they get home from work ... the things are at their doorsteps .... ready for them to cook dinner. Seems this is the typical way of working moms operate in Korea ... anyway ... my dear Pris also shop the Korean way ... she will order clothes online ... and they will ship it into Spore from Korea ... she seems to like this way of shopping so far ... she loves Korean fashion ...

Anyway .... on our 5th day, we was taken to a local supermarket that sells fresh vegie and fruits ... cheap cos its a joint venture between the government and the local company. Here, we were given 20minutes to shop.... which was later extended to 30mins ....

We rushed into the supermarket .... grab all that we can ... we dont have time to think if its cheaper here or not cos we dont have time to convert ... we don really have time to read the labels because 95% of it is in Korean!!! So how do we shop??? Hahhaha ... using the "aunty" instinct .... we just grab grab grab ... you buy what ... i also buy mode .... hahahha ...

It was really hilarious - because at the end of the way ... what I wanted to buy was Kimchi .... and discovered that what I got at the end was kimchi paste instead ... what I wanted to buy was something like Uncle Ben's rice with some instant dish .... spicy chicken etc ... what I got was just the instant dish ... I had to rush to cook rice to eat with it just now ....

Anyway ... I ended up buy lots of instant noodles (yummy2) ... 2.8kg of kimchi sos and more ... cos got free gift (super heavy ... make me over weight ...25.1kg!! .. so happy cos tot I can eat kimchi when I get back ... but low and behold -- its just the sos ... hahhaha ) ... few boxes of the instant chicken meat cooked in some Chinese sos ... but Korean style .... seaweeds .... and also chili power ... and anchovies powder ... to make kimchi myself (I have not learn how to make it but I have seen someone doing it .... go hopefully .... can agak my way into making kimchi) .... got a set of those powder for SM as well ..... I shd be expecting kimchi from her as well :0

After "attacking" the supermarket for 30minutes ... we lined up to pay ... we could not understand what the cashier was trying to say to us ... after awhile they gave up ... showed us the total sum ... we paid.

Then comes the packing time .... hahhaha ... betul2 like siau char bors .... we quickly packed them into carton boxes available .... imagine 15 people buying stuff ... race against time .... and now ... race against time to pack ... lolz ... betul2 crazy one ... the aunties each carried at least one non stick pan to bbq chicken/beef etc ... it seems no need add oil and easy to clean up after use.

We laughed all the way in the bus after the shopping experience ...

After attending the Fri prayer meeting at ChooYong Ci church .... we headed for our 2nd round of shopping ... where we were taken to was a place like Bai Yoke in Bangkok ....its the area where wholesellers and distributors sell their goods .... from shoes .... bags ... accessories ... clothes ... you name it .. they have it .... we spent about 2hrs there ..... the place opens at 12midnite - 4am ... there are some things that we want to buy from stall ... but the owner is not around ... either because she is eating and chatting away with some of the other owners or she is just not to be found ... I manage to buy some tshirts and blouses here ... but I find that the things are not cheap ... very hard to bargain because we do not buy them in bulk. But it was quite interesting to see the night shopping of Seoul...

The last place we shopped was off course the airport .... the flight was delayed 1hrs ... so aunties had opportunity to shop again .... I did not shop because I will NOT pay for airport price items unless I know that it is super cheap --- which it is not in the normal case. The aunties bought watches .... ginseng sweets .... etc ... I ...NIL ... I logged into the net to clear my mails and virus attached my hotmail ... hahhaa ....

Here ends my shopping story in Seoul .... interesting ... fun .... m sure their is much more to explore ... but things are expensive ... so ..... cant really shop here ... at least for my standard ... perhaps if I can go with a local .. it can be much cheaper ...

... New Skin ...

I have been bugging Win to change my layout for quite sometime ... and last nite at 1230am she started doing it!!! Seems she was very stress with her studies / assignments .. and re-doing the layout of my blog was a stress relief! Hahhaa ... thank God for that ... now I get new skin!!!

Wonder how many of us are just tired with our own looks that we need a beauty make over --- for ladies .... its either u "iorn" your hair straight or "rolled" it up ... after keeping my hair permed for 1.5years, I rebonded my hair 2.3mths ago ... Win has been wanting to perm hair from kingdom come's day and 1 ago ... she made a trip to JB to purposely perm her hair!! I introduced Wen the hairdresser ... Wen introduced him to Win ... now like satu kampung goes to him -- I have been going to him off on for the past 8 years!

Likewise, in our spiritual lives ... those of us who believes in Jesus and asked Him to come live in us, we now have a new life! We do not need to feel sian or bored with our life because ..... "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." (Romans 6:4)

The new life we live now is a life of power through the Resurrection of Jesus ... the power that resurrected Jesus from death 2000years ago is with us now ... so, let's move and live in our new life .... through the power that has been given to us!

Our lives will be different ... will look different from the inside out because of the life of Jesus and power of resurrection that lives in and through us!

Do you have the "new skin" in your life through Jesus? I do .... la la la la .....

Memories of Mooncake Festival

Coming back from Gelang Patah prayer meeting ... I saw many groups of young people and children carrying their lantern walking around the housing estate ... and as I drove into the street I live ... my neighbor lighted a row of lanterns and hang them over a poll the place between the gate and fence.

Here in Taman U ... one can really feel this festival .... the festive mood is in the air ... kids are outside their house at almost every Chinese house ... it has been a long time since I see groups and groups of young people and kids carrying their lanterns ... :0

When I was young, I remember the celebration of Mooncake festival .... perhaps I was about 6 or 7 years old ... we were living in Sitiawan Estate and we used to hang out with my second cousins who lived in the mid way along the road that lead to Sitiawan Estate.

So, that evening we went to their house .... they made lanterns from Milo and Nestum empty tins because our parents will not buy us lanterns that is made of colorful plastic papers. So, we need to make our own lanterns if we want to play with them. All you need to do is to cut the bottom of the tin, then cut stripes on the walls of the tins, lastly you press the tin downwards that made the tins roundish in shape. Then at add a wire to hold the candle at the bottom. Actually, this is the best lantern because you will not set them on fire .... :0

With these homemade lanterns, we will carry then along the road ... to the house that is a home keropok factory ... while we carry the lantern ... we shout .... "niang-teng ah" "niang-teng ah" ... literal translation from Foo Chow -- lantern display ... lantern display ....

Simple fun we had as kids .... :-0...

Off course, not too long later, we had paper lanterns which is cheaper than the colorful plastic paper lanterns ... and the Milo/Nestum tin lantern slowly fade away .... what is left is just memories of it ....

In Foo Chow tradition, we do not only have mooncakes during this festival ... we also have 2 other type of delicacy ... one is small square biscuit ... made from flour and lard ... and another .... small hard sugar coated biscuit .. which is called "lor-chu-piang" -- literal translation from FooChow ... rat's tail .... actually when I was in Fu Zhou 2 years ago, they sell these type of biscuit all year round in the supermarkets. Guess, in Sitiawan, we can only get it during MoonCake Festival ...

This is my memory of Moon cake festival - what is yours?
